Description of the good practice

The project
Audio-lingua is a collaborative database of authentic audio documents recorded by native speakers.
It is a copyright free data base of audio documents for teachers and website managers used both for self-study purposes and as class material.
Objectives
It aims at developing the practice of oral understanding. It meets the needs that teachers often have to find authentic audio documents fitted to the level of the learners.
Content
The multilingual website offers downloadable audio files (mp3 format) of up to 2 minutes on various topics and in 6 languages.
Collaborative dimension
Any internet-user can contribute to the liveliness of the website by proposing personal recorded files via the appropriate form.
The teachers can assess the audio documents and rate the resources.
Selecting - validating
An editorial committee evaluates the level of the document according to the CEFR and adds key words to make the advanced search of the documents easier.

Ideas for transferring to other websites

Support websites can make suggestions as to how the audio file can be used in the class and build strong links with the website.
The principle can be used on other websites in order to meet specific expectations in CLIL Teaching for instance.
