The project
Audio-lingua is a collaborative database of authentic audio documents recorded by native speakers.
It is a copyright free data base of audio documents for teachers and website managers used both for self-study purposes and as class material.
Objectives
It aims at developing the practice of oral understanding. It meets the needs that teachers often have to find authentic audio documents fitted to the level of the learners.
Content
The multilingual website offers downloadable audio files (mp3 format) of up to 2 minutes on various topics and in 6 languages.
Collaborative dimension
Any internet-user can contribute to the liveliness of the website by proposing personal recorded files via the appropriate form.
The teachers can assess the audio documents and rate the resources.
Selecting - validating
An editorial committee evaluates the level of the document according to the CEFR and adds key words to make the advanced search of the documents easier.
La clef des langues offers articles about literature, history and civilisation written by young researchers or scholars. These articles aim at sharing the latest scientific breakthroughs with teachers.
Together with the article, you will find a selection of resources available online in the target language to find authentic documents but also the results of the latest research conducted by scholars in their fields of expertise.
The Linguanet project offers a simple and accurate terminology to describe language related resources as well as their terms of access. The multilingual website (with an interface in 32 languages) key resources for teachers in a great variety of languages. It is a reliable source of resources indexed according to the level of the learner both for self-training and school teaching.
Support the creation of activities designed for three types of target audience:
- pupils (activities in flash format)
- teachers (with a description of the session)
- the general public (explanation of the activities).
The Lehrer-Online website provides teaching units that draw upon pupils’ ICT skills as much as much as on their language skills. The units revolve around ICT-based activities (webquests, production of audio recordings).
They also draw on eTwinning projects and describe their implementation in language lessons.
There is a facility for teachers to comment and rate the units of work.
One of the members of the ICT 4 project has decided to create a blog in order to keep up the work on the project which is financed by the EU.
He updates the data of the website, contributes to the everyday referencing and thus ensures the sustainability of the project.
The Emilangues website offers teaching resources for language and CLIL teachers in European or Oriental language sections which include over 300,000 pupils in France. The teaching resources are written by teachers and validated by attendance officers.
A development of the teaching unit, a step by step description of the session is available in Additional documents (exercises, instructions). A summary describes both in target and source language the objectives of the Unit in order to encourage teachers in other languages to use the resource. It also allows non-French speakers to understand and access the resources by associating them to a visual element (see Good practice MELT).
The unit offers:
- An example of a project-oriented teaching method - Language and CLIL lesson plans, here in English and physics & chemistry.
- Methods to use and develop the ICT skills of the pupils (creation of a video).
The website of the Spanish Ministry collects and shares the production of distance training sessions and the production documents. They can be downloadable in pdf documents, as copies of mirror websites or web pages and they offer self-training dossiers and examples of projects.
Formespa is a virtual community of teachers of Spanish as a foreign language. The websites revolves around several axes:
1 A very active distribution list.
The archives of the month are available on line. Every Internet user can join the distribution list in order to receive the messages sent by the community. FORMESPA is a forum dedicated to the didactics of teaching Spanish as a foreign language on which teachers and didactics designers can debate on teaching practices, exchange experiences and information on recent events (congress, seminars) and recent publications (scientific, didactic publications etc)
2 A space dedicated to the sharing of documents and resources indexed against the level framework.
The resources are shared and published.
The project offers teachers to index themselves the resources available on the Internet and to explain their uses in their teaching context. The project focuses on the criteria which help the transferability and the implementation of resources in different cultural and teaching contexts.
